Is it free?

Yes. Pilots is free during the beta.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Pilots runs in your browser at app.getpilots.app. On your phone you can add it to the home screen (Share › Add to Home Screen on iPhone, menu › Install app on Android) to open it like an app.

Who can see my flights?

By default, pilots who follow you. Switch to a private account (Settings › Privacy) and only followers you accept can see your flights, map, logbook, posts and live position.
